Many Christians today are daunted by the Bible, seeing the size and scope of Scripture as intimidating and overwhelming. The result is often a fragmented understanding of parts of the Bible, which leads us to view it through the lens of our individual stories, primarily looking for different verses or passages to help us live our everyday lives. But, in our search for personal truth, we fail to see how the entirety of Scripture works together to show a bigger story—God's work to redeem and restore the entire world. In From Beginning to Forever, Elizabeth Woodson guides you through the story of the Bible, showing how all 66 books combine to form one unified narrative. Weaving together the rich theological truths found in Genesis through Revelation, this 8-session study shows the eternal significance of what God is doing in the world and how he invites us to be a part of it.

Quilt Ministry Fundraiser

Our Annual Quilt Fundraiser is an event not to be missed!

A quilt gives not only warmth, but hope. A quilt is a tangible way to give comfort and joy to someone who needs to know Gods great love for them.

Recent quilt donations were given to Adventist hospitals for oncology patients. The nurses were so excited to receive our quilts, they were actually crying with joy and couldn’t believe our kindness. When they delivered the quilt to the patient, she said to make sure that the hands that made the quilt knew how blessed she felt.

Trials: Navigating the Pitfalls of Life

Saturday, February 1st from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm.
As we pursue life with God, together, for the good of the world, we face many trials that seem to suck the life right back out of us. Come learn from Christian experts in the field as we explore five common pitfalls to the abundant life and how we can navigate them, not only for ourselves but also for those we love. Topics include: toxic relationships, finances, addictions, grief, and mental health.

A light breakfast will be provided.  This year, we are including a registration fee to offset the cost of bringing in outside speakers.  Registration is $10 per person or $25 per family of 3 or more.  A limited number of scholarships are available; please contact the church office.  Childcare registration is $5/child through 5th grade.  So we can provide appropriate childcare, please register by Jan 29th.  Older kids/youth are encouraged to attend the conference.

If you are registering a family of 3 or more for $25, please click "Register," select the number of attendees you are registering, and then select each family member from the drop downs.  The discount will be taken after all members are selected.
*Please register all family members who will attend at the same time for the discount to apply correctly.
Throughout the morning of the conference, you will get to choose three out of the five breakout session options.

Women's Mentoring opportunities continue

Join us in Room 159 us as we continue the conversation of mentoring other women in everyday life, faith, and friendship.  This is an opportunity to share your ideas and successes in mentoring and ask questions about the how to of mentoring.  All are welcome to join!

Whether you just decided to follow Jesus or have been for some time now, baptism is the next step in our faith journey that Christ calls us to take. Not sure if you are ready? Still have questions? That's okay, come to this class anyhow and we'll explore this beautiful sacrament together.

This class will be held Sunday, January 5th after the 10:30am service in The Cabin (Youth Room #147) from about 11:45am–12:30pm.

The baptism itself will be Sunday, January 12th during a single service at 10:30 am service. (Yes, this week we are holding ONE service so everyone can be involved in the baptism celebration).

Chadash Dance is excited to host their inaugural fundraising event, “One Foot in Hope,” on Saturday, December 21st followed by their Handel’s Messiah performance at 7 PM. This will be a beautiful evening and will serve as a vital fundraiser to support their mission statement, “to stand in the ashes of the barn burned down, and point to the moon, one foot in suffering, one foot in hope.”

Women’s Cookie Swap

Ladies of all ages!  Come to FIC at 1 pm on Dec 14 to the annual cookie exchange!  

Bring 3 dozen of your favorite Christmas treats (homemade or store bought), and wear your wackiest holiday sweater!  

We will also be doing a service project together to spread joy this season!

Do you enjoy singing Christmas Carols but feel as though you are never able to sing them enough before the Christmas season is over? If so, please join us in the FIC Great Room on Thursday, December 12, from 1 to 3 pm for a Christmas Carol Sing Tea! Please bring a plate of Christmas cookies to enjoy with our coffee or tea.

Operation Christmas Child Packing Party November 20th

Our annual set up and packing party for all the donations we have received
for Operation Christmas Child will be 

Wednesday, November 20 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm.

Volunteers are needed to set up all the shoe box supplies anytime from 2-6:00pm. After 6:00, volunteers are needed to pack the shoe boxes. Pizza will be served at 6:00, then please stay and help fill shoe boxes.  The event will end at 8:00.

Hymn Sing at Sunrise Assisted Living on November 20th

If you enjoy singing hymns, then mark November 20 at 3:00 pm on your calendar!

Join us when we will go to the Sunrise Assisted Living facility at 10280 Sheridan Blvd to sing hymns with their residents for about an hour. (Go to the main building, to the right at the top of the small hill.)

This is an opportunity to be a Thanksgiving blessing to those who are unable to join the Hymn Sings here at Family in Christ.  See you there!
